Dream On Me Luna Cradle Review 2020

How can we make sure that our baby will have good sleep? Pick a great crib. Here is my Dream On Me Luna Cradle Review below.

As most parents know, sleep is essential for a baby’s brain development.

When I first had my baby, her pedia strongly advised me to avoid waking up my baby when she was asleep because it could disturb the brain development that was happening while the baby was asleep.

Dream On Me Luna Cradle Review

As I said above, sleep is essential… not only for babies, but also for adults. If you have ever gone without sleep for a day or two, you probably noticed that you were acting a little bit more crabby than usual.

You were more irritable and you were having a hard time focusing on important matters.

Just like you, babies can get really cranky when they are lacking the appropriate amount of sleep that their body needs.  The hours of sleep needed varies on their age. For newborns, they sleep for most of the day, but in very short segments.

They usually wake up after two or three hours to feed or to poop. As they age, the length of their sleep gets longer to… now they can sleep for four to five hours. Some parents even start sleep training during this time.

“About two thirds of babies are able to sleep through the night on a regular babies by [the] age of six (6) months.” -Stanford Children’s Health

The sleep cycles of babies are also different compared to that of an adult. Babies are known to spend less time in rapid eye movement or REM sleep which is the dream time sleep. The cycles are shorter.

By the age of six months, there are babies who start to wake up at night after being sleep trained. Note that this is normal and part of development called separation anxiety.

You see, at their young age, babies cannot understand that separations are only temporary or short-term. They fear that when they sleep, they will be separated from their trust caretaker, usually the mom and dad.

Overstimulated and overtired babies also tend to wake at night.

If your baby is:

  • Waking up and crying one or more times in the night after being able to sleep through the nigh
  • Cries when you leave the room
  • Refuses to go to sleep without a parent nearby
  • Clinging to the parent

Then your baby may be experiencing separation anxiety.

You can somehow alleviate the fears of your baby by giving reassurance that you aren’t going to leave, responding to their cries at night (this is one way of building trust and reassuring your baby that you are always there), holding your baby’s hand while they start drifting off to sleep, or putting your baby’s crib nearby.

As I said above, one of the things that usually cause the baby to not have a good sleep is being overstimulated or overtired. This is true. I’ve experienced this with my baby.

The best thing to do would be to put your baby to sleep when he or she is showing signs of sleepiness.

  • Rubbing of eyes
  • Yawning
  • Looking away
  • Fussing/Being a little irritable

… or in this case, cradle.

Dream On Me’s Luna Cradle is a definite must have. The cradle offers a modern design with straight lines, solid side panels, and an x-cross base for easy rocking.

There are hidden stabilizing bars in the crib that work by adding a greater support and stability for the cradle, thus preventing the crib from turning over and injuring your baby.

The cradle is perfect for newborns or until the baby can sit on his own.

Dream On Me Luna Cradle Review 1

The cradle is able to create a cozy, nest-like surrounding for your newborn. In a way, this can reassure her that she’s secure and not alone.

The design of this cradle is also great because it is able to blend into a nursery, no matter what the theme is. It isn’t too much too look at for the eyes, and it is perfect if you are trying to save space.

It works with any wall color because the colors you can choose for this cradle are all in neutral.

The cradle meets or exceeds the current applicable safety standards for children’s products.

A good bed to sleep on is essential for baby’s brain development so your baby won’t be disturbed. The Luna cradle comes with a comfortable foam that promotes sleep.

You can also put the cradle beside your bed at night so you can easily soothe your baby in case he or she wakes up and cries to look for you.

I understand you may be groggy at night, too tired to head off to her nursery so by doing this, you won’t have to leave your bedroom at all. You can easily find out what is causing your baby distress at night and fix it, putting her back to sleep.

A baby that has quality sleep at night is more responsive to social cues and less cranky. A happy baby equals a happy parent and it’s all because of having great sleep.

Have you talked to your pediatrician about this? SIDS stands for Sudden Infant Death Syndrome. By the name itself, it is sudden and it is unexplanable.

We still do not know what really causes SIDS in babies younger than one (1) year of age. It is sometimes called “crib death” because it happens when babies are asleep.

Can we prevent it?

That’s the hard part, the answer is very vague. Since there isn’t an actual singled out cause, it is hard to know how to prevent this from happening. However, there are ways that can reduce it.

When putting your baby to sleep, make sure that he is lying on his back, not on his tummy. Never face down or on their sides. Sleeping on the stomach or on the side increases the risk for SIDS.

Which babies are most likely at risk?

It is hard to say, because as I stated above, the cause for SIDS is unknown. But here are some risk factors that experts are looking at:

  • Smoking, drinking, or drug use during pregnancy and after birth
  • Poor prenatal care
  • Prematurity or low birth weight
  • Family history of SIDS
  • Mothers younger than 20
  • Being around tobacco smoke after birth
  • Overheating

What does sleeping position have to do with this?

Sleeping on your stomach could block the baby’s airway and hurt their breathing. Since babies can not roll over on their own yet, they may have trouble while they are asleep. The chances of the baby breathing his or her own exhaled air is high.

Do not place a lot of stuffed toys, pillows, blanket, or bedding near the face of the baby. Rebreathing exhaled air causes the oxygen level to drop and the carbon dioxide level will rise.

Room-sharing with your baby can help. The Luna Cradle can fit itself in a small area which allows this to be possible.

With your baby right beside you, the chances of you waking up to your baby’s crying is higher, which means you can be there as soon as possible to help if something happens.

Choosing the right product for sleep helps, especially when it comes to our babies.
